About TAC

Our Mission

We provide a space where emerging technical artists can continue learning, building, and growing beyond the classroom.

Through access to professional tools, shared workspace, and mentorship from working industry professionals, we help students transition from education into real-world creative careers.

What We Do

The Technical Artists Collective operates as both a working scenic shop and a learning environment.

Our space is designed to:

  • Give students and graduates access to tools and workspace

  • Provide hands-on experience through real scenic projects

  • Teach business fundamentals like estimating, bidding, and client communication

  • Support artists in becoming independent contractors and professionals

  • Foster a collaborative community of builders, designers, and creatives

In addition, we operate a scenic rental program that supports local schools and theatres by providing affordable, reusable set pieces — helping keep production costs down while creating more opportunities for students to stay involved.

Why It Matters

Technical theatre and creative trades teach more than just building — they teach discipline, teamwork, problem-solving, and pride in craftsmanship.

But without continued access and guidance, many students are unable to pursue these skills further.

We believe that creative education shouldn’t end at graduation.

By providing a space for continued growth, we’re helping young artists turn their passion into sustainable careers — and strengthening the future of the arts in our communities.

Our Vision

We envision a future where every student who discovers a love for technical theatre has a clear path forward.

A place to keep learning.
A place to build real experience.
A place to belong.
